The Michigan Mountain Cats had trouble finding ways to stop the Flint Junior Generals, which beat Mountain Cats, 6-0. Flint's penalty kill excelled, as the Junior Generals gave up zero goals despite allowing 11 power plays. Flint was sparked by Zach Koonce, who registered one goal and one assist. Koonce scored 9:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Flint. Brett Leppek provided the assist. The Junior Generals stifled Michigan's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Flint forced the Mountain Cats goalie Walker Bass to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots. The Junior Generals' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Flint finished with 32 penalty minutes. Flint also got points from Mark McGee, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Leppek, who also had one goal and one assist. Flint also got a goal from Nicholas Gnagni as well. More assists for Flint came via Conor Durgan, Reno de Hondt, Justin Fisher, and Ryan Burr, who each chipped in one. Nathan Klebe recorded 22 saves for the Junior Generals. Flint registered two goals on nine power play opportunities. Michigan's Bass stopped 42 shots out of the 48 that he faced. The Mountain Cats incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
