The Granite City Lumberjacks opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to an 8-1 over the Alexandria Blizzard.

Alexandria was stymied by Granite City netminder Scott Murray, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. Murray managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.41 prior to the game.

The Lumberjacks got the win with help from a great game by Tobias Gabrielsen, who had one goal and two assists. Gabrielsen scored on the power play 7:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Granite City. A slashing penalty on Jake Maxson had put Granite City on the power play.

The Lumberjacks' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Granite City averages 5.8 goals per contest. The Lumberjacks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Granite City also got points from Gavin Porter, who also registered one goal and one assist. Granite City also had goals scored by Christian Mohs, who had one, Aidan Verbeke, who had two, and Luc Richardson, who had three. More assists for Granite City came via Mitchell Gwost, Travis Kothenbeutel, and Morgan Martelle, who contributed one a piece and Roy Grandov, Drew Otto, and Aaron Storch, who each chipped in two.

The Blizzard did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Alexandria averages 4.3 goals per game. The Blizzard could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 74 minutes in penalties during the game.

Granite City registered five goals on 10 power play opportunities. Alexandria took out Tanner Elmore after he had made 14 saves and installed Evan Bisek in goal, where he finished with eight saves and the loss. The Blizzard registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Alexandria ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Levi Erickson was ejected from the game.
