Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the St. Louis Jr. Blues defeated the Chicago Junior Bulldogs in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout. Chicago got a shootout goal from Matt Kostopoulos. St. Louis' other shootout goal was scored by Tommy Heinzman.The Junior Bulldogs' power play was ineffective against the Jr. Blues' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. St. Louis stifled Chicago's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Junior Bulldogs were unable to stop the Jr. Blues from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Louis eventually piled up 63 shots on goal. The Jr. Blues were led by Mike Lozano, who finished with two goals and one assist. Lozano scored the first of his two goals at 50 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis. Christian Argyros assisted on the tally. Lozano's next tally made the score 2-2 with 13:26 left in the first period. St. Louis had gotten the advantage when Chicago's Henry Hearon was sent off for interference. Alexander Carlsson provided the assist. St. Louis also got points from Carlsson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Kyle Meeh and Lucas Stewart, who each chipped in one. The Junior Bulldogs forced the Jr. Blues goalie Billy Hindle to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots. Chicago was led by Anthony Palermo, who grabbed two goals. Palermo scored the first of his two goals at 4:37 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Palermo's next tally made the score 3-3 with 12:07 left in the second period. Ryan Maksimovic also scored for Chicago. In addition, Chicago received assists from Andrew Fattore, who had one. Hindle recorded 47 saves for St. Louis. The Jr. Blues incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Joey Garapolo rejected 59 shots on goal for the Junior Bulldogs. Chicago incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
