The Toledo Cherokee and the Michigan Mountain Cats played 60 tight minutes of hockey, but in the end it was Toledo that came away with a 1-0 victory. Xavier Sudlow's tally was assisted by Dominic Antonelli and Michael Pisanti.The Cherokee were led by Sudlow, who registered one goal. Sudlow scored 12:17 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Toledo. Antonelli assisted on the tally. Toledo put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Michigan to score on any of its four power plays. The Cherokee's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Mountain Cats. Toledo allows 2.3 goals per game. Michigan was unable to stop the Cherokee from sending pucks towards the net, and Toledo eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Cherokee could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. The Mountain Cats' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 Toledo power plays. Clay Horvath rejected 23 shots on goal for Toledo. Kevin OShea made 31 saves for Michigan on 32 shots. The Mountain Cats incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with 14 minors.
