Topeka rips Dallas, 7-1

The Topeka Capitals were firing on all cylinders against the Dallas Jr. Stars, and when the final buzzer sounded Capitals emerged with a 7-1 win.

Dallas was stymied by Topeka netminder Jude Hull, who stopped 33 shots during the victory. Hull managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.82 prior to the game.

The Capitals were paced by Nick Rizzo, who finished with one goal and one assist. Rizzo scored 7:32 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Topeka. Niko Greco assisted on the tally.

Topeka excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Jr. Stars were unable to stop the Capitals from sending pucks towards the net, and Topeka eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. The Capitals' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Topeka averages 3.8 goals per contest. The Capitals' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Topeka additionally got points from Nick White, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Nick Manney, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Yu Kikosaka, who also had one goal and one assist, and Georgy Ostapchuk, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Topeka also got a goal from Hardijis Kupaks as well. Other players who recorded assists for Topeka were Kole Hudson, who had one.

Dallas was held below its usual level of production. The Jr. Stars average 3.3 goals per game. Dallas forced Topeka goalie Hull to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

The Jr. Stars were led by Keith Huspen, who scored the team's only goal. Huspen scored 3:21 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Topeka. Raurie Petrich picked up the assist.

The Capitals totaled 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Link Ferch made 30 saves for Dallas on 36 shots. The Jr. Stars ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major.
