Alexandria rides Elmore to victory over Breezy Point, 5-1Breezy Point Ice Arena Fri, Oct 11, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Tanner Elmore helped the Alexandria Blizzard defeat the Breezy Point North Stars, 5-1. Breezy Point's power play was ineffective against Alexandria's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Blizzard were sparked by Tom Schmidt, who finished with one goal. Schmidt scored short handed 17:40 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alexandria. Alexandria found itself down a man on Jake Maxson's roughing. The Blizzard's offense rang up 46 shots on the North Stars' net. Alexandria could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. Others who scored for Alexandria included Joe Anderson, who had two and Ian Ecklund and Jody Randall, who scored one goal each. More assists for Alexandria came via Aaron Ryback, who had two and Trent Olson and Christian Canavati, who contributed one a piece. Breezy Point was led by Jon Plaszcz, who scored the team's only goal. Plaszcz scored on the power play 1:18 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Breezy Point. The North Stars had gotten the advantage when the Blizzard's Schmidt was sent off for roughing. Tanner Elmore made 25 saves for Alexandria on 26 shots. The Blizzard registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Joey Bergquist recorded 41 saves for Breezy Point. The North Stars incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
