Flint rides Franke to victory over Peoria, 4-1Iceland Arena Sun, Oct 06, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Anders Franke had a standout game with 38 saves, and the Flint Junior Generals beat the Peoria Mustangs 4-1. Flint pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes. The Junior Generals were sparked by Zach Koonce, who grabbed one goal. Koonce scored 11:53 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Flint. Ryan Burr picked up the assist. Flint excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Junior Generals kept Peoria's goalie busy throughout the game, and Chance Kremer made 30 saves on 34 shots. Flint also got points from Brett Leppek, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Flint also got a goal from Nicholas Gnagni as well. More assists for Flint came via Austin Fletcher, Josh Koepplinger, Brit Brothen, and Justin Fisher, who each chipped in one. The Mustangs could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Peoria puts an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Flint was unable to stop the Mustangs from sending pucks towards the net, and Peoria eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Mustangs were led by Nathan Chasteen, who scored the team's only goal. Chasteen scored 31 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-1 Flint. Andrew Scofield provided the assist. The Junior Generals registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Peoria incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
