Jansen stymies Cincinnati, Cleveland wins 3-1

The Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks relied on the sparkling performance of Tyler Jansen in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Cincinnati Swords.

Cleveland was sparked by Tyler Pritt, who tallied one goal. Pritt scored 15:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cleveland. Jake Maier assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Lumberjacks stifled Cincinnati's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cleveland kept the Swords' goalie busy throughout the game, and Artie Haase made 30 saves on 33 shots.

Mike Palasics also scored for Cleveland. Other players who recorded assists for Cleveland were Alex Buban, Lucas Mickelson, Kyle Gonzalez, Tyler Stockwell, and Jared Johnson, who each chipped in one.

Cincinnati put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Lumberjacks to score on any of their four power plays. The Swords could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Cincinnati puts an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game. Cleveland was unable to stop the Swords from sending pucks towards the net, and Cincinnati eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

The Swords were led by Nolan Kepler, who scored the team's only goal. Kepler scored 2:02 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Nick Haase picked up the assist.

Jansen recorded 34 saves for the Jr. Lumberjacks. Cleveland incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Cincinnati incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
