Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Cincinnati Swords were able to defeat the Battle Creek Revolution, 5-1. Cincinnati was sparked by Braden Smith, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Smith scored 2:48 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Cincinnati. Ian Rolfsen assisted on the tally. The Swords stifled Battle Creek's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cincinnati forced the Revolution goalie Zach Kooi to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. Cincinnati also got points from RJ Marshall, who also had two goals and one assist. Cincinnati also got a goal from Nathan Chiarizzio as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cincinnati were Brett Mory, Jeremy Navarro, Nick Haase, Niko Jansen, Robert Gentile, and Emil Sundstrom, who contributed one a piece. Battle Creek was led by Derek Dodge, who scored the team's only goal. Dodge scored 11:10 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Cincinnati. Daniel Olson picked up the assist. Joe Sheppard recorded 21 saves for the Swords. Cincinnati totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Zach Kooi made 39 saves for the Revolution on 44 shots. Battle Creek incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
