Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Metro Jets defeated the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks in a shootout 3-2 (2-0 SO). The shootout lasted for seven attempts between the teams. In addition to the clincher, Metro got a shootout goal from Matt Dempsey.The Jets forced Cleveland goalie Tyler Jansen to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Metro was helped by Cody Jones, who registered one goal. Jones scored 16:51 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Metro. Brad Hepler picked up the assist. Metro also got a goal from Alex Holm as well. More assists for Metro came via Zach Kopinski, Kyle Downey, and Dempsey, who contributed one a piece. The Jr. Lumberjacks stifled the Jets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cleveland's offense rang up 32 shots on Metro's net. The Jr. Lumberjacks were helped by Tyler Pritt, who tallied one goal. Pritt scored 19:40 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Nick Balavich assisted on the tally. Brendan Logan also scored for Cleveland. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Mike Palasics and Jared Johnson, who each chipped in one. Davide Mantovani made 30 saves for the Jets on 32 shots. Metro incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cleveland's Jansen stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Jr. Lumberjacks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
