Granite City downs Minnesota, 8-1

Sam Zweiner finished with one point to lead the Granite City Lumberjacks to an 8-1 victory over the Minnesota Flying Aces.

Minnesota was unable to stop Granite City from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lumberjacks eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Granite City's goal total was higher than its season average. The Lumberjacks have scored at the pace of 5.0 goals per game during the current campaign. Granite City got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Granite City additionally got points from Aidan Verbeke, who also registered one goal and one assist, Mitchell Gwost, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Zac Sikich, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Zach Voss also scored for Granite City. In addition, Granite City received assists from Drew Otto, who had two, Hunter Schneider, who had three, and Brett Love, Aaron Storch, and Austin Wilson, who each chipped in one.

The Flying Aces were often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and two majors for 48 minutes in penalty time. Minnesota surpassed its season average of 32.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Flying Aces were led by Tyler Gallagher, who scored the team's only goal. Gallagher scored on the power play 19:11 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Granite City. Minnesota had taken the advantage when the Lumberjacks' Tim Brown got sent off for tripping. AJ Gullickson provided the assist.

Granite City's Wilson stopped 19 shots out of the 20 that he faced. The Lumberjacks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Mike Stumpf recorded 34 saves for the Flying Aces. Minnesota registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For the Flying Aces, Blake Anderson was ejected from the game.
