Pittsburgh rips Michigan, 8-1

The Pittsburgh Vengeance had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-1 win over the Michigan Mountain Cats.

Pittsburgh was sparked by Oskar Thorsen, who registered one goal. Thorsen scored 10:58 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pittsburgh. Tom Diffendal picked up the assist.

The Vengeance's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Michigan power plays. Pittsburgh's offense rang up 47 shots on Michigan's net. The Vengeance surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Pittsburgh averages 3.8 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Vengeance were also effective in the Mountain Cats' zone, and came away with two goals.

Pittsburgh also got points from Cody Black, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Joseph Randazzo, who also had one goal and one assist, and Gavin Cummings, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Pittsburgh also had goals scored by Nicholas Santiago, who had one and Tyler Speis, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Pittsburgh were Lukas Friberger, who had three, Thomas Leistner, Brennan Conway, and Chris McCambridge, who each chipped in one, and Brooks Antill and Kevin Kenny, who contributed two a piece.

Chase Stanford rejected 15 shots on goal for Pittsburgh. The Vengeance incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Michigan's Walker Bass stopped 39 shots out of the 47 that he faced. The Mountain Cats incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
