The North Iowa Bulls were firing on all cylinders against the Granite City Lumberjacks, and when the final buzzer sounded Bulls emerged with a 4-1 win. Granite City's power play was ineffective against North Iowa's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Bulls were led by Conor Jonasson, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Jonasson scored 15:48 into the first period to make the score 2-0 North Iowa. Logan Murphy provided the assist. North Iowa kept the Lumberjacks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Austin Wilson made 30 saves on 34 shots. North Iowa also had goals scored by Timothy Santopoalo, who had one and Richie Marenis, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for North Iowa were Chris Howard, who had one and Matt Kroska, who had three. Granite City forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Lumberjacks surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Granite City was led by Mitchell Gwost, who scored the team's only goal. Gwost scored on the power play 11:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 North Iowa. The Lumberjacks had taken the advantage when the Bulls' Tyler Richison got sent off for interference. Drew Otto assisted on the tally. North Iowa's Jared Schletty stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Bulls incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Granite City ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Zac Sikich was ejected from the game.
