Cincinnati beats St. Louis 3-2 after comeback scare

The St. Louis Jr. Blues tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Cincinnati Swords would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Cincinnati took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have St. Louis storm back on a Mike Lozano goal 17:55 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Swords were sparked by Thomas Clayton, who registered one goal. Clayton scored 10:35 into the third period to make the score Cincinnati. RJ Marshall picked up the assist.

Cincinnati put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Blues to score on any of their three power plays.

Cincinnati additionally got points from Braden Smith, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Robert Gentile also scored for Cincinnati. In addition, Cincinnati received assists from Devin Fracassi, Henry Smith, and Emil Sundstrom, who contributed one a piece.

St. Louis also got a goal from Zane OBryan as well. More assists for St. Louis came via Chris Brown and Christian Argyros, who each chipped in one.

Artie Haase made 28 saves for the Swords on 30 shots. Cincinnati incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cooper Cothran rejected 23 shots on goal for St. Louis. The Jr. Blues incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
