Metro vanquishes Pittsburgh in shootout, 3-2 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Metro Jets defeated the Pittsburgh Vengeance in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Pittsburgh got a shootout goal from Cody Black. Metro also got a shootout goal from Cody Jones.

The Jets saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Metro made the score 2-0 on a short handed goal by Alex Holm at 16:54 in the second period. The Vengeance evened things up at 2-2 on a short handed goal by Oskar Thorsen at 18:17 in the third period.

Pittsburgh's power play was ineffective against the Jets' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Metro put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Vengeance to score on any of their seven power plays. The Jets' offense rang up 33 shots on Pittsburgh's net.

Metro was led by TJ Krajewski, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Krajewski scored 16:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Metro. Cooper McLean assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Adam Lockner, who had one.

The Vengeance excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Pittsburgh forced the Jets goalie Kameron Limburg to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Nicholas Santiago also scored for Pittsburgh. In addition, Pittsburgh received assists from Lukas Friberger and Black, who each chipped in one.

Limburg recorded 31 saves for Metro. The Jets incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Vengeance's Chase Stanford stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Pittsburgh incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
