 Huge game by Maillard boosts xOntario Avalanche over Valencia Flyers, 8-1Ice Station NHL    Sun, Feb 23, 2014 Story by Narrative Science. 
Antoine Maillard had one goal and four assists to lead xOntario Avalanche to an 8-1 victory over Valencia Flyers. Maillard got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 5:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 xOntario Avalanche. xOntario Avalanche had gained a power play chance when Wade Wylie was whistled for checking from behind. Lubomir Fetkovic provided the assist. Maillard dished an assist on Zechariah Roberts's goal that made the score 2-0 xOntario Avalanche at 7:12 into the first period. He then added assists on Fetkovic's goal at 7:07 into the second, on Carl Hallberg's goal at 11:44 into the second, and on Hallberg's goal at 7:54 into the third.xOntario Avalanche was led by goalie Daniel Cepila, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal. Cepila managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.44 prior to the game. xOntario Avalanche forced Valencia Flyers' netminders to work in net, totaling 32 shots and forcing 24 saves. Mark Becica made nine stops and Luke Thompson made 15. xOntario Avalanche stifled Valencia Flyers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. xOntario Avalanche bested its season scoring average. xOntario Avalanche averages 4.7 goals per game. xOntario Avalanche additionally got points from Fetkovic, who also had two goals and one assist, Roberts, who also racked up two goals and one assist, and Hallberg, who also registered two goals and two assists. Alexander Roihjert also scored for xOntario Avalanche. Other players who recorded assists for xOntario Avalanche were Basil Reynolds, who had two and Ben Meadows, Jackson Giammona, Luke Rendino, and Andrew Guzman, who contributed one a piece. Valencia Flyers was held below its usual level of production. Valencia Flyers averages 3.7 goals per game.
