Sydney Bears completes comeback, beats Canberra Knights, 3-2

Sydney Bears climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat Canberra Knights, 3-2.

Sydney Bears never led in the game until netting the game winner. Sydney Bears trailed 2-0 after a power play goal by Canberra Knights' Mikko Jortikka at 2:37 in the third period. Sydney Bears tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Michael Schlamp at 11:34 in the third period. Sydney Bears netted the game winner at 12:43 in the third period on a goal by Schlamp.

Schlamp was all over the ice for Sydney Bears, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Schlamp scored the first of his two goals at 10:04 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Canberra Knights. Spencer Austin assisted on the tally. Schlamp's next tally made the score with 8:26 left in the third period. Brendan Stubbs picked up the assist.

With 36 shots on target during the contest, Sydney Bears exceeded the 1.9 shot it averages per game this year. Sydney Bears struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 36 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

Jan Koubek also scored for Sydney Bears. Other players who recorded assists for Sydney Bears were Steven Adams, who had two.

Canberra Knights put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Sydney Bears to score on any of its eight power plays. Canberra Knights put 29 shots on net during the contest, more than the 1.3 it averages per game.

Canberra Knights also got a goal from Kai Miettinen as well. More assists for Canberra Knights came via Jordan Braid, Harry Byers, Jordan Gavin, and David Lewis, who each chipped in one.

Luke Read rejected 27 shots on goal for Sydney Bears. Brad Hunt recorded 33 saves for Canberra Knights. Canberra Knights incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
