Sayle nets hat trick, leads Guelph to 10-3 win over Brantford

A hat trick by Dylan Sayle was the highlight in Hurricanes' 10-3 win against the Brantford 99ers.

Sayle notched his first tally 19:43 into the second period. He then added goals at 28 seconds into the third and at 6:35 into the third.

Brantford's 10 penalties came back to haunt it, as the 99ers let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

The Guelph Hurricanes forced 99ers' goaltenders to work in net, firing 43 shots and forcing 33 saves. Tim Porter made 27 stops and Evan Wolfe made six. Guelph surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Hurricanes have scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

Guelph also got points from Matt Lippa, who also finished with one goal and four assists, Patrick Kudla, who also had one goal and one assist, Michael Courvoisier, who also finished with two goals and three assists to lead the team in points, and Zach McFadden, who also registered one goal and three assists. Others who scored for Guelph included Craig Martini and Scott Villeneuve, who scored one goal each. In addition, Guelph received assists from Chad Herron, who had one and Jake Wyse, Matt Nightingale, and Ryan Migliaccio, who contributed two a piece.

Brantford forced Guelph goalie Stormer Santana to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. The 99ers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Brantford was led by Ryon Pereira, who racked up one goal and one assist. Pereira scored on the power play 10:32 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brantford. The 99ers had gained a power play chance when Sam Natale was whistled for slashing. Anthony Van Looyen picked up the assist. Brantford additionally got points from David Storey, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Brantford also got a goal from John Nay as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brantford were Brandon Versamy and Nathan Bastian, who each chipped in one.

Stormer Santana made 28 saves for the Hurricanes on 31 shots. Guelph incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For the Hurricanes, Martini was ejected from the game. Brantford registered three goals on six power play opportunities. The 99ers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Van Looyen was ejected from the game.
