Henderson lifts Leamington over Lambton Shores, 7-3

Behind a great game by Eric Henderson, who had four goals, the Leamington Flyers defeated the Lambton Shores Predators, 7-3.

Henderson's first goal came 5:16 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:27 into the second, at 8:06 into the third, and at 19:01 into the third.

Leamington pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 15 penalty minutes.

The Flyers forced Lambton Shores' goalies to work all game long, ripping 34 shots and forcing 27 saves. Alex Tokarewicz made 13 stops and Brett Gilmour made 14. Leamington bested its season scoring average. This season, the Flyers average 4.7 goals per contest. Leamington's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Leamington additionally got points from Cole Chevalier, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Alex Friesen, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. J.P. Grineau also scored for Leamington. In addition, Leamington received assists from Kyle Quick, who had two and Blaine Bechard, Alex Seguin, Nathan Opblinger, Chris Scott, Daniel Robertson, Trevor Wheaton, and Dylan Seguin, who contributed one each.

The Predators' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Lambton Shores finished with 26 penalty minutes.

The Predators were led by Ryan Gruszka, who registered one goal and one assist. Gruszka scored 6:29 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Steven Beenackers picked up the assist. Lambton Shores also got points from Bryan Boersma, who also had one goal and one assist. Lambton Shores also got a goal from Jay Ritchie as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lambton Shores were Matthew Kenney, Nick Sproveiro, and Ryan Fraser, who each chipped in one.

Wheaton recorded 22 saves for the Flyers. Leamington registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. For the Flyers, Ryan Muzzin was ejected from the game. Lambton Shores registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
