Listowel erases deficit to stun Cambridge, 5-4

The Listowel Cyclones climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Cambridge Winter Hawks, 5-4.

Listowel never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Cyclones was down 4-2 after a goal by Cambridge's Alex Bottigoni at 5:38 in the second period. Listowel knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Derek Elliott at 13:29 in the second period. The Cyclones netted the game winner at 2:50 in the third period on a goal by Elliott.

Elliott and Kenny Huether provided the spark for Listowel, combining for three goals and one assist. Elliott had two goals and Huether also added one goal and one assist.

The Cyclones managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Listowel ended up below its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Cyclones' goal total was higher than their season average. Listowel averages 2.9 goals per game.

Listowel also got points from Huether, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Listowel included Connor Shaw and Chace Duckworth, who each put in one. More assists for Listowel came via Ray McFalls, Tanner Mighton, Tim Nauta, and Brad Yowart, who contributed one each and Ted Nichol and Ben Shelley, who each chipped in two.

The Cyclones were unable to stop the Winter Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Cambridge eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Cambridge also had goals scored by Matt Pinder and Scott Pawson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Alex Mills, Cody Gratton, Kalob Witzell, Cameron Pentsa, Maxime Lamontagne, Adam Dauda, and Hudson Michaelis, who contributed one each.

Cole Wardlaw recorded 33 saves for Listowel. The Cyclones registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. The Winter Hawks' Lucas Machalski stopped 22 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Cambridge incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
