Buffalo's Cox deadly on offense in 6-1 win against xPort Colborne

Behind a great game by Ryan Cox, who had two goals, the Buffalo Regals defeated the xPort Colborne Pirates, 6-1.

Cox scored at 6:56 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Buffalo and again while 13:57 into the second to make the score 3-1 Buffalo.

Buffalo was led by goalie Adam Dentico, who finished with 46 saves while allowing one goal. Dentico managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 4.86 prior to the game.

The Regals managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for 12 minutes in penalty time. Buffalo finished below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Regals kept xPort Colborne's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jake Danson made 43 saves on 49 shots. Buffalo outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Regals average 2.3 goals per contest.

Buffalo also got points from Nicholas Matos, who also registered three goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Matthew Shumate also scored for Buffalo. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Colin Farell, Colton Anstey, Matt Mahony, and Michael Faliero, who contributed two a piece.

The Pirates excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. xPort Colborne's offense operated below it season average. The Pirates average 3.1 goals per game. Buffalo was unable to stop xPort Colborne from sending pucks towards the net, and the Pirates eventually piled up 47 shots on goal.

xPort Colborne was led by Jerrad Taylor, who scored the team's only goal. Taylor scored 13:20 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Buffalo. Patrick Desjardins picked up the assist.

The Pirates totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For xPort Colborne, Spencer Fox was ejected from the game.
