xSt. Catharines rolls over xPort Colborne, 10-3

The xSt. Catharines Falcons had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 10-3 win over the xPort Colborne Pirates.

Dillan Walker had one goal and three assists to lead xSt. Catharines. Walker scored 10:51 into the third period to make the score 7-1 xSt. Catharines. Kyle Woodhouse picked up the assist.

xPort Colborne was unable to stop the Falcons from sending pucks towards the net, and xSt. Catharines eventually piled up 59 shots on goal. The Falcons found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. xSt. Catharines has scored at the pace of 5.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

xSt. Catharines also got points from Woodhouse, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Greg Jambrosich, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Ryan Doucette, who also registered two goals and one assist, Tommy Barszcz, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Mark Rodgers, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Brennan Feasey, who also had one goal and two assists. xSt. Catharines also got a goal from Cam Blakely as well. In addition, xSt. Catharines received assists from Aaron Taylor, who had three, Broderick Kelly and Mitch Bursey, who each chipped in one, and Tyler Jackson and Yanni Rallis, who contributed two a piece.

The Pirates managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. xPort Colborne finished below its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Pirates were helped by James Mense-Detrich, who registered one goal. Mense-Detrich scored 12:36 into the first period to make the score 3-1 xSt. Catharines. Patrick Desjardins assisted on the tally. xPort Colborne additionally got points from Desjardins, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Matthew White also scored for xPort Colborne. Other players who recorded assists for xPort Colborne were John DiLorenzo, Spencer Fox, Ryall Ledyard, Branden Tworyzuck, and Brock Ackerman, who each chipped in one.

Jeff Maxwell made 11 saves before being replaced by Knick Dawe, who took the win and made 13 saves. The Falcons totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For xSt. Catharines, Brad Col was ejected from the game. xPort Colborne's Jake Danson stopped 49 shots out of the 59 that he faced. The Pirates registered two goals on two power play opportunities.
