Caledonia beats Ancaster 4-3 after comeback scare

The Caledonia Corvairs survived a determined comeback attempt by the Ancaster Avalanche on the way to a 4-3 win.

Caledonia took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Ancaster storm back on a Jake Bain goal 18:08 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Jeffrey Malott had one goal and two assists to lead the Corvairs. Malott scored on the power play 19:36 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Caledonia. Caledonia had gained a power play chance when Harrison Domagala was whistled for hooking. Kyler Nixon assisted on the tally.

The Corvairs' offense rang up 32 shots on the Avalanche's net.

Caledonia also got points from Connor Murphy, who also had one goal and two assists. Caledonia also had goals scored by Justin Abraham and Scott Dorian, who scored one goal each. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Jake Brown, who had two.

Ancaster was helped by Zach Nieminen, who grabbed one goal. Nieminen scored 11:58 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Caledonia. Blake Luscombe picked up the assist. Ancaster also got a goal from Luke Zupan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Ancaster were Michael Pollice, who had one and Max Balinson, who had two.

Colin Furlong rejected 22 shots on goal for Caledonia. The Corvairs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. Matt Calas recorded 28 saves for the Avalanche. Ancaster incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
