Caldwell stymies Kitchener, Stratford wins 3-1Allman Arena Fri, Feb 21, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Nicholas Caldwell stood on his head and made 34 saves to lead the Stratford Cullitons to a 3-1 victory over the Kitchener Dutchmen. Stratford was sparked by Tyson Baker, who finished with one goal. Baker scored 11:21 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Stratford. Mitch Vandergunst picked up the assist. The Cullitons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kitchener to score on any of its four power plays. Stratford forced the Dutchmen goalie Marc Williams to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Stratford also had goals scored by Deven Kropf and Jordan Currie, who each put in one. More assists for Stratford came via Mitch Brooks, Brett Heaman, and Jeff McArdle, who each chipped in one. Kitchener did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Dutchmen put an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game. Kitchener's offense rang up 35 shots on the Cullitons' net. The Dutchmen were led by Alex Demrovsky, who scored the team's only goal. Demrovsky scored 8:48 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener. Kyle Ellis provided the assist. Stratford incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Cullitons, Nathan Templeman was ejected from the game. Marc Williams made 30 saves for Kitchener on 33 shots. The Dutchmen incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
