Knight's hat trick boosts xSt. Thomas over xSt. Marys, 7-2

Luc Knight netted a hat trick to lead the xSt. Thomas Stars over the xSt. Marys Lincolns, 7-2.

Knight's first goal came 15:48 into the second period. He then added goals at 9:13 into the third and at 19:36 into the third.

xSt. Thomas forced Lincolns' goaltenders to work between the pipes, getting 43 shots and forcing 36 saves. Andrew Masters made 36 stops and Kyle Sephton made zero. The Stars' goal total was higher than their season average. xSt. Thomas has scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. The Stars struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for four opposing power plays.

xSt. Thomas additionally got points from Spencer Hutchinson, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Brett Van Dusen, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Carson Brookshaw, who also registered one goal and two assists. xSt. Thomas also got a goal from Lucas Triemstra as well. In addition, xSt. Thomas received assists from John Warren, who had one and Josh Slegers and Braden Hellems, who each chipped in two.

xSt. Marys found itself short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing four power plays.

The Lincolns were helped by Cody Filson, who tallied one goal. Filson scored 6:14 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Mike Siddall picked up the assist. xSt. Marys also got points from Max Naus, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for xSt. Marys came via Ocean Check, who had one.

xSt. Thomas took out Dane Gubbels after he had made seven saves and installed Nikolas Dampier in goal, where he finished with 20 saves and the win.
