Vandergunst leads Stratford over Brantford, 7-3

Mitch Vandergunst was all over the ice for the Stratford Cullitons, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Stratford's 7-3 win over the Brantford 99ers.

Vandergunst got on the board by slotting home a goal 15:16 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Stratford. Ethan Adair assisted on the tally. Vandergunst dished an assist on Patrick McKelvie's goal that made the score 3-2 Stratford at 12:16 into the second period. He added another helper on Tyson Baker's goal that made the score 6-3 Stratford at 2:39 into the third period.

Brantford was unable to stop the Cullitons from sending pucks towards the net, and Stratford eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. The Cullitons surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Stratford averages 3.6 goals per game.

Stratford also got points from Baker, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Stratford included Brett Heaman, who had two and Adam Zehr and Nathan Templeman, who scored one goal each. In addition, Stratford received assists from Jordan Currie, who had two, Jake Pleon, who had three, and Deven Kropf, Mitch Brooks, and Trevor MacDonald, who each chipped in one.

The 99ers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Brantford finished with 26 penalty minutes.

The 99ers were helped by Paris Briscoe, who racked up one goal. Briscoe scored 9:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brantford. Guy Polillo picked up the assist. Brantford additionally got points from Brandon Versamy, who also registered one goal and one assist. Brantford also got a goal from Cole Cummings as well. More assists for Brantford came via Leonard Dziemianko, Nathan Bastian, and Keegan Alvestad, who contributed one a piece.

Michael Pesendorfer made 23 saves for the Cullitons on 26 shots. Stratford incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Cullitons ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jeff McArdle was ejected from the game. Evan Wolfe rejected 39 shots on goal for Brantford. The 99ers registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Brantford, Anthony Van Looyen was ejected from the game.
