Manchurek nets hat trick, leads xLaSalle to 9-3 win over xSarniaVollmer Recreation Complex Wed, Feb 19, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Mark Manchurek was the highlight in Vipers' 9-3 win against the xSarnia Legionnaires. Manchurek's first goal came 14:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 19 seconds into the third and at 13:59 into the third.The xLaSalle Vipers made xSarnia's netminders to work between the pipes, finishing with 61 shots and forcing 52 saves. Hunter Johnson made 43 stops and Braden Palocz made nine. xLaSalle managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Vipers finished below its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. xLaSalle bested its season scoring average. This season, the Vipers average 4.7 goals per contest. xLaSalle additionally got points from Brett Langlois, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Daniel Beaudoin, who also had one goal and two assists, and Devon Paliani, who also finished with one goal and two assists. xLaSalle also had goals scored by Ben Hanus, who had two and Rio Anzolin and Dylan Denomme, who each put in one. In addition, xLaSalle received assists from Nathan Veres, who had two, Aaron Luchuk, who had three, Bill Eansor, who had four, and Liam Murray, Zack Percy, and Bryce Mayea, who contributed one a piece. The Legionnaires were led by Riley Roberts, who registered two goals and one assist. Roberts scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 xSarnia. xSarnia earned a power play opportunity when Hanus was put in the box for hooking. Nathan Mater picked up the assist. Roberts' next tally on the power play made the score 6-2 xLaSalle with 4:34 left in the second period. Davis Boyer provided the assist. xSarnia also got points from Boyer, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for xSarnia were Ryan Vendramin, who had two. Paolo Battisti recorded 24 saves for xLaSalle. The Vipers registered three goals on six power play opportunities. The Legionnaires incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
