Elmira blows out Brantford, 6-1

The Elmira Sugar Kings were firing on all cylinders against the Brantford 99ers, and when the final buzzer sounded Sugar Kings emerged with a 6-1 win.

Elmira was led by goalie Jonathan Reinhart, who finished with 34 saves while allowing one goal. Reinhart certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.06 entering the contest.

The Sugar Kings were led by Steven Jakiela, who racked up one goal and one assist. Jakiela scored 17:20 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Elmira. Matt Harding assisted on the tally.

Elmira kept Brantford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tim Porter made 35 saves on 41 shots. The Sugar Kings outdid their season average for goals scored. Elmira has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. The Sugar Kings' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Elmira also got points from David Savery, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Alex Mutton, who also had one goal and one assist, Adam Campagnolo, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Stephen Jablonski, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Mitch Klie also scored for Elmira. More assists for Elmira came via Justin Cooke, Cass Frey, Zac Coulter, and Mitch Wright, who contributed one a piece.

The 99ers' offense rang up 35 shots on Elmira's net.

Brantford was led by Leonard Dziemianko, who scored the team's only goal. Dziemianko scored on the power play 5:04 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Elmira. The 99ers had gained a power play chance when Brodie Whitehead was whistled for tripping. Nathan Bastian picked up the assist.

The Sugar Kings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brantford incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
