Evan Buehler lifted the Waterloo Siskins to an 8-2 victory with a hat trick against the Guelph Hurricanes. Buehler's first goal came 9:26 into the second period. He then added goals at 6:25 into the third and at 6:49 into the third.Waterloo made Hurricanes' netminders to work without much rest, taking 43 shots and forcing 35 saves. Bradley Van Schubert made 29 stops and Stormer Santana made six. The Siskins stifled Guelph's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Waterloo surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Siskins average 3.6 goals per game. Waterloo also got points from Troy Lajeunesse, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Thomas Carey, who also had one goal and one assist, and Ryan Taylor, who also registered one goal and two assists. Waterloo also had goals scored by Evan Kearns and Matt Schieck, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Waterloo were Christian Mroczkowski, who had three, Matthew Mah, Connor Bodnar, Joshua Defarias, Andrew Brubacher, and Danny Hanlon, who each chipped in one, and Nick Hirst and Eric Cimino, who contributed two a piece. The Hurricanes racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 12 minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 28.0 minutes per game Guelph had been spending in the box. The Hurricanes were helped by Craig Martini, who finished with two goals. Martini scored the first of his two goals at 8:07 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Matt Lippa provided the assist. Martini's next tally made the score 7-2 Waterloo with 6:07 left in the third period. Noah Carroll picked up the assist. More assists for Guelph came via Chad Herron, who had one. Waterloo's Leo Lazarev stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Siskins incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Guelph registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. For the Hurricanes, Lawrence Pagnan and Zach McFadden were ejected from the contest.
