Chase Thornton netted a hat trick to lead the xStrathroy Rockets over the xLaSalle Vipers, 6-2. Thornton notched his first tally 2:15 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:58 into the third and at 18:27 into the third.xStrathroy made Vipers' goalies to work between the pipes, ripping 32 shots and forcing 26 saves. Paolo Battisti made 23 stops and Cameron Zanussi made three. The Rockets' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four xLaSalle power plays. xStrathroy found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Rockets average 3.7 goals per contest. xStrathroy also got points from Brett Dalton, who also had one goal and one assist. Wes Baker also scored for xStrathroy. In addition, xStrathroy received assists from Tyler Duarte, Matt Laberge, Kurtis Sander, Mike Mandarelli, and Dan Chapman, who contributed one a piece and Shawn Grogan, Ryan Field, and Sam Vokes, who each chipped in two. xLaSalle did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Vipers put an average of 4.6 pucks into the net per game. xLaSalle kept xStrathroy's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jack Moylan made 32 saves on 34 shots. The Vipers were helped by Andrew Burns, who racked up one goal. Burns scored 7:44 into the first period to make the score 2-1 xStrathroy. Mark Manchurek picked up the assist. xLaSalle also got a goal from Nathan Savage as well. More assists for xLaSalle came via Ben Hanus, who had one. The Rockets incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. xLaSalle incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
