Stratford rides Caldwell to victory over Cambridge, 3-1Galt Arena Gardens Sat, Feb 15, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Stratford Cullitons relied on the sparkling performance of Nicholas Caldwell in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Cambridge Winter Hawks. Stratford was sparked by Patrick McKelvie, who grabbed one goal. McKelvie scored short handed 14:07 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stratford. The Cullitons were on a disadvantage when Nick Nigro went off the ice for slashing. Jake Pleon provided the assist. Stratford racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Winter Hawks kept Stratford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Caldwell made 35 saves on 36 shots. Cambridge was led by Devin Shell, who scored the team's only goal. Shell scored 2:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cambridge. Kalob Witzell picked up the assist. For the Cullitons, Shane O Brien was ejected from the game. Machalski rejected 31 shots on goal for the Winter Hawks. Cambridge incurred 50 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Winter Hawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Lucas Zitmanis was ejected from the game. |
