St. Marys hangs on, beats Lambton Shores 3-1

Mike Siddall scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the St. Marys Lincolns held off the challenges of the Lambton Shores Predators in a tough 3-1 win.

A goal 3:13 into the the first period by Siddall proved to be the game winner, and powered St. Marys to the victory Nico Giannantonio assisted on the tally.

Lambton Shores was stymied by the Lincolns netminder Andrew Masters, who stopped 34 shots during the victory. Masters certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.17 entering the contest.

St. Marys was led by Rai Diloreto, who grabbed one goal. Diloreto scored 4:38 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Marys. Garrett James picked up the assist.

The Lincolns forced the Predators goalie Justin Fazio to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

St. Marys also got points from Siddall, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. St. Marys also got a goal from Cody Filson as well. In addition, St. Marys received assists from Luke Jackson, who had one.

Lambton Shores put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Marys to score on any of its six power plays. The Predators' offense rang up 35 shots on the Lincolns' net.

Lambton Shores was led by Steven Beenackers, who scored the team's only goal. Beenackers scored on the power play 14:14 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Marys. The Predators had gotten the advantage when St. Marys' Matt Smallman was sent off for roughing. Kyler Keating provided the assist.

The Lincolns incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Fazio rejected 34 shots on goal for Lambton Shores. The Predators incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
