xLondon uses early goal to top St. Marys, 2-0

The xLondon Nationals took the lead against the St. Marys Lincolns in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-0 victory.

Jeff Bauer provided xLondon with the game-winning tally when he scored 2:13 into the the first period. Paul Hopkins provided the assist.

St. Marys' power play was ineffective against the Nationals' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

xLondon was led by Bauer, who tallied one goal.

The Nationals excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. xLondon featured an improved defense during the game. The Nationals allow 3.0 goals per game. xLondon forced the Lincolns goalie Andrew Masters to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Scott Lombardi also scored for xLondon. More assists for xLondon came via Anthony Kotsovos, who had one.

St. Marys' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three xLondon power plays. The Lincolns could not produce up to they normal offensive output. St. Marys puts an average of 2.3 pucks into the net per game.

Jacob Riley made 21 saves for the Nationals on 21 shots. xLondon incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Masters recorded 37 saves for the Lincolns. St. Marys incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
