Stratford rides Caldwell to victory over Kitchener, 4-1Kinsmen Arena Tue, Feb 11, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Nicholas Caldwell stood on his head and made 35 saves to lead the Stratford Cullitons to a 4-1 victory over the Kitchener Dutchmen. Stratford was paced by Nathan Templeman, who grabbed one goal. Templeman scored 11:18 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stratford. Jake Pleon provided the assist. The Cullitons stifled Kitchener's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Stratford kept the Dutchmen's goalie busy throughout the game, and Marc Williams made 31 saves on 35 shots. The defensemen of the Cullitons were also effective in Kitchener's zone, and came away with two goals. Stratford additionally got points from Pleon, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Stratford also had goals scored by Jordan Currie and Trevor Sauder, who each put in one. More assists for Stratford came via Trevor MacDonald, Mitch Vandergunst, and Shane O Brien, who contributed one a piece and Deven Kropf and Ryker Killins, who each chipped in two. The Dutchmen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Stratford to score on any of its three power plays. Kitchener did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Dutchmen average 3.6 goals per game. The Cullitons were unable to stop Kitchener from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dutchmen eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Kitchener gave up more goals than its normal season average. The Dutchmen average 1.9 goal allowed per game. Kitchener was led by Brett Clampitt, who scored the team's only goal. Clampitt scored 2:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener. Matt Guild picked up the assist. Stratford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Dutchmen incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
