Elmira's Wright deadly on offense in 5-1 win against Listowel

Mitch Wright was all over the ice for the Elmira Sugar Kings, as he tallied two goals in Elmira's 5-1 win over the Listowel Cyclones.

Wright scored at 1:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Elmira and again while on the power play 10:10 into the second to make the score 2-0 Elmira.

Listowel was stymied by the Sugar Kings netminder Jonathan Reinhart, who stopped 32 shots during the victory. Reinhart certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.12 entering the contest.

Elmira's penalty kill excelled, as the Sugar Kings gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 3:15 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Elmira penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 11 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The Sugar Kings surpassed its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game. Elmira's offense rang up 58 shots on the Cyclones' net.

Elmira also got points from Brad Kobryn, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Adam Campagnolo, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cash Seraphim also scored for Elmira. In addition, Elmira received assists from Brodie Whitehead and Adam Brubacher, who contributed one a piece and David Savery and Mitch Klie, who each chipped in two.

Listowel racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game the Cyclones had been spending in the box. The Sugar Kings were unable to stop Listowel from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cyclones eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Listowel was led by Blake Nichol, who scored the team's only goal. Nichol scored on the power play 12:21 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Elmira. The Cyclones had taken the advantage when Elmira's Cass Frey got sent off for high sticking. Kenny Huether assisted on the tally.

The Sugar Kings registered two goals on five power play opportunities. For Elmira, Eric Palazzolo was ejected from the game. Daniel Dekoning rejected 53 shots on goal for Listowel. The Cyclones ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ted Nichol was ejected from the game.
