xChatham blows out St. Marys, 5-1Chatham Memorial Arena Sun, Feb 09, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The xChatham Maroons had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the St. Marys Lincolns. Kyle Brothers had two goals to lead xChatham to victory. Brothers scored at 12:57 into the second period to make the score 2-0 xChatham and again while 7:33 into the third to make the score 4-0 xChatham. The Maroons pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 12 penalty minutes. xChatham's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven St. Marys power plays. The Maroons' offense rang up 49 shots on St. Marys' net. xChatham additionally got points from Charlie Izaguirre, who also tallied one goal and one assist and James McEwen (APM), who also had one goal and one assist. xChatham also got a goal from Jared Dennis as well. Other players who recorded assists for xChatham were Adam Arseneault, who had two and Trevor Richardson, Steven Szekesy, Brayden Hopkins, Michael Verboom, Tanner Ferguson, and Hayden Verbeek, who each chipped in one. The Lincolns could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Brendan Johnston recorded 23 saves for xChatham. The Maroons registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Andrew Masters made 44 saves for St. Marys on 49 shots.
