Battisti leads xLaSalle to shutout victory over xLondonDorchester Sat, Feb 01, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Paolo Battisti recorded a shutout against the xLondon Nationals as the xLaSalle Vipers picked up a 4-0 win. xLondon's power play was ineffective against xLaSalle's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Vipers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Nationals to score on any of their six power plays. xLaSalle was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Vipers gives up 3.0 goals on average per game. xLaSalle forced xLondon goalie Jacob Riley to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Vipers were helped by Ben Hanus, who had one goal. Hanus scored on the power play 8:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 xLaSalle. xLaSalle earned a power play opportunity when Derek Todosichuk was put in the box for high sticking. Austin Hall assisted on the tally. xLaSalle additionally got points from Hall, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Mark Manchurek, who also registered one goal and one assist. xLaSalle also got a goal from Aaron Luchuk as well. More assists for xLaSalle came via Andrew Burns, who had one and Dylan Denomme, who had two. The Nationals did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. xLondon averages 3.8 goals per game. Paolo Battisti made 26 saves for the Vipers on 26 shots. xLaSalle totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. The Vipers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nikko Sablone was ejected from the game. Riley recorded 28 saves for the Nationals. xLondon ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Nationals, Chris Maton was ejected from the game.
