Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the St. Marys Lincolns defeated the xStrathroy Rockets in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams.St. Marys' penalty kill excelled, as the Lincolns gave up one goal despite allowing 11 power plays. St. Marys was helped by Mike Siddall, who tallied one goal. Siddall scored short handed 9:08 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Lincolns were on a disadvantage when Callum Ruddock went off the ice for slashing. Braydon Blight picked up the assist. Cody Filson also scored for St. Marys. Other players who recorded assists for St. Marys were Ben Kirwin and Nico Giannantonio, who each chipped in one. xStrathroy forced St. Marys goalie Andrew Masters to work between the pipes, taking 53 shots. The Rockets were helped by Chase Thornton, who registered one goal. Thornton scored on the power play 6:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 xStrathroy. xStrathroy had gotten the advantage when the Lincolns' Mitch Read was sent off for tripping. Tyler Duarte provided the assist. xStrathroy also got a goal from Kurtis Sander as well. More assists for xStrathroy came via Brett Dalton, Ryan Field, and Mike Mandarelli, who contributed one a piece. Masters recorded 51 saves for St. Marys. The Lincolns incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Tynan Lauziere made 24 saves for the Rockets on 26 shots. xStrathroy incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
