Zupan leads Ancaster over Fort Erie, 6-3

Behind a great game by Luke Zupan, who had two goals and two assists, the Ancaster Avalanche defeated the Fort Erie Meteors, 6-3.

Zupan scored at 6:40 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 12:37 into the third to make the score 5-2 Ancaster.

Ancaster excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Avalanche kept Fort Erie's goalie busy throughout the game, and Liam Conway made 27 saves on 33 shots. Ancaster found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Avalanche average 3.6 goals per game.

Ancaster additionally got points from Christopher Klack, who also had one goal and two assists, Jake Milligan, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Zach Niemanen, who also registered one goal and one assist. Ancaster also got a goal from Marcus Baird as well. In addition, Ancaster received assists from Harrison Domagala, who had three and Max Balinson and Ryan Knill, who each chipped in one.

The Meteors found themselves short handed often, totaling 28 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.

Fort Erie was helped by Richard DeMarco, who registered one goal. DeMarco scored 1:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fort Erie. Jared Marino assisted on the tally. Fort Erie also had goals scored by Jack Webb and Carson Johnstone, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Aaron Wanat, who had two and Josh Micallef, Kyle Marino, and Sam Quaranta, who contributed one a piece.

Braydon Banitsiotis made 18 saves for Ancaster on 21 shots. The Avalanche incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Meteors, Quaranta was ejected from the game.
