xSarnia falls to Lambton Shores in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Ryan Trottier gave the Lambton Shores Predators a 5-4 (OT) victory over the xSarnia Legionnaires when he scored 4:51 into the extra period.

Lambton Shores overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Predators trailed 4-2 after a power play goal by xSarnia's Josh Kestner at 12:50 in the second period. Lambton Shores tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Brent Hammett at 2:47 in the third period.

The Predators were led by Trottier, who grabbed one goal and one assist.

Lambton Shores surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Predators have scored at the pace of 2.6 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Lambton Shores was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 38 penalty minutes.

Others who scored for Lambton Shores included Jay Ritchie, Matthew Kenney, and Ryan Fraser, who each put in one. In addition, Lambton Shores received assists from Steven Beenackers, who had two and Austin Fetterly, Cody Perriam, Adam Wammes, Kyler Keating, and Brendan Trottier, who contributed one a piece.

The Legionnaires forced the Predators goalie Justin Fazio to work between the pipes, taking 53 shots. xSarnia struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 42 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

The Legionnaires were helped by Jordan Fogarty, who tallied one goal. Fogarty scored 10:24 into the first period to make the score 2-0 xSarnia. Riley Babkirk provided the assist. xSarnia also got points from Curtis Crombeen, who also registered one goal and one assist, Kestner, who also had one goal and one assist, and Babkirk, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for xSarnia came via Hunter Tyczynski, who had two and Davis Boyer, Cody Trowell, and Nathan Mater, who each chipped in one.

Fazio rejected 49 shots on goal for Lambton Shores. Hunter Johnson made 20 saves for xSarnia on 25 shots. The Legionnaires registered two goals on six power play opportunities.
