Huge game by Brothers boosts xChatham over xLaSalle, 8-1

Kyle Brothers was all over the ice for the xChatham Maroons, as he tallied one goal and four assists in xChatham's 8-1 win over the xLaSalle Vipers.

Brothers got on the board by slotting home a goal 1:10 into the second period to make the score 2-1 xChatham. Adam Arseneault assisted on the tally. Brothers dished an assist on Arseneault's goal that made the score 3-1 xChatham at 1:44 into the second period. He then added assists on Michael Verboom's goal at 5:02 into the second, on Arseneault's goal at 6:48 into the second, and on Charlie Izaguirre's goal at 5:48 into the third.

xLaSalle's power play was ineffective against the Maroons' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

xChatham made the Vipers' netminders to work without much rest, racking up 36 shots and forcing 28 saves. Cameron Zanussi made nine stops and Paolo Battisti made 19. The Maroons' goal total was higher than their season average. xChatham has scored at the pace of 5.1 goals per game during the current campaign.

xChatham also got points from Verboom, who also had two goals and one assist and Arseneault, who also grabbed two goals and four assists to lead the team in points. Ian Faubert also scored for xChatham. In addition, xChatham received assists from Connor Annett, who had one and Tanner Ferguson, who had three.

xLaSalle could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Vipers average 4.6 goals per game.

xLaSalle was led by Aaron Luchuk, who scored the team's only goal. Luchuk scored on the power play 19:03 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Vipers earned a power play opportunity when Ferguson was put in the box for cross checking. Dylan Denomme picked up the assist.

Jacob Keogh recorded 21 saves for the Maroons. xChatham incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. xLaSalle ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For the Vipers, Rio Anzolin was ejected from the game.
