xChatham rolls over xSarnia, 5-1Chatham Memorial Arena Sun, Jan 26, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The xSarnia Legionnaires had trouble finding ways to stop the xChatham Maroons, which beat Legionnaires, 5-1. xChatham was led by goalie Jacob Keogh, who finished with 30 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Keogh will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.46. The Maroons were sparked by James McEwen (APM), who tallied one goal and one assist. McEwen (APM) scored 6:55 into the first period to make the score 2-0 xChatham. Connor McKinnon picked up the assist. xChatham's offense rang up 54 shots on xSarnia's net. Others who scored for xChatham included Trevor Richardson, Kyle Brothers, Charlie Izaguirre, and Adam Arseneault, who scored one goal each. More assists for xChatham came via Nate Pietens, Oliver Blayne, and Hayden Verbeek, who contributed one a piece and Michael Verboom and Tanner Ferguson, who each chipped in two. The Legionnaires did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. xSarnia puts an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. The Legionnaires forced the Maroons goalie Keogh to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. xSarnia was led by Ryan Vendramin, who scored the team's only goal. Vendramin scored 8:04 into the first period to make the score 2-1 xChatham. Jay Clarke assisted on the tally. xChatham incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Legionnaires' Hunter Johnson stopped 49 shots out of the 54 that he faced. xSarnia incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
