Greer's big game bests Brantford in 6-1 Kitchener win

The Kitchener Dutchmen's Clayton Greer had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-1 win over the Brantford 99ers.

Greer's tallies came on the power play at 3:13 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Kitchener and on the power play 6:25 into the second to make the score 5-1 Kitchener.

Kitchener was led by goalie Marcus Del Conte, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Del Conte certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.82 entering the contest.

The Dutchmen's penalty kill excelled, as Kitchener gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Dutchmen stifled Brantford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 99ers were unable to stop Kitchener from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dutchmen eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Kitchener's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Dutchmen average 3.7 goals per contest. Kitchener's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Kitchener additionally got points from Adam Kawalec, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Kitchener also got a goal from Alex Demrovsky as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Philip Moser, Dylan Bursey, and Connor Cole, who contributed one each and Jared Gilbert, Kyle Ellis, and Keli Grant, who each chipped in two.

Brantford's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to the Dutchmen's power play unit.

The 99ers were led by Nathan Bastian, who scored the team's only goal. Bastian scored 18:05 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Kitchener. John Nay picked up the assist.

Kitchener incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Andre Keire made 32 saves for Brantford on 38 shots. The 99ers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
