Behind a great game by Bryan Komasara, who had two goals, the Welland Jr. Canadians defeated the Ancaster Avalanche, 7-3. Komasara scored at 6:18 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Welland and again while on the power play 11:31 into the first to make the score 4-0 Welland.Welland made Ancaster's goaltenders to work in net, taking 38 shots and forcing 31 saves. Braydon Banitsiotis made 10 stops and Matt Calas made 21. The Jr. Canadians' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Ancaster power plays. Welland's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Jr. Canadians average 3.3 goals per contest. Welland also got points from Matt Cuglietta, who also had one goal and one assist and Matthew Mateljan, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Welland included Christian DiFonzo, Jack Fitzgerald, and Max Cipriano, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Welland were Cole McKnight, Connor Walters, Jimmy Sheehan, JC Thivienge, Gabe Ruggi, and Miller Hatten, who contributed one a piece and Adam Mataya and Brayden Stortz, who each chipped in two. Welland was unable to stop the Avalanche from sending pucks towards the net, and Ancaster eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. More assists for Ancaster came via Max Balinson, Ryan Lewis, Cole Nagy, and Jake Milligan, who contributed one a piece. Jeffrey Heartwell made 35 saves for the Jr. Canadians on 38 shots. Welland incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Jr. Canadians ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ruggi was ejected from the game. Team's Luke Zupan and Hayden Guitard were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
