xChatham rips Lambton Shores, 9-2Chatham Memorial Arena Sun, Jan 19, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The xChatham Maroons were firing on all cylinders against the Lambton Shores Predators, and when the final buzzer sounded Maroons emerged with a 9-2 win. Michael Verboom had one goal and three assists to lead xChatham. Verboom scored 5:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 xChatham. Kyle Brothers provided the assist. The Maroons' penalty kill excelled, as xChatham gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. The Maroons made Predators' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 51 shots and forcing 42 saves. Brett Gilmour made 31 stops and Alex Tokarewicz made 11. xChatham surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Maroons average 5.1 goals per game. xChatham also got points from Trevor Richardson, who also registered two goals and one assist, Brothers, who also had four goals and one assist to lead the team in points, and Brayden Hopkins, who also racked up one goal and two assists. xChatham also got a goal from Adam Arseneault as well. In addition, xChatham received assists from Tanner Ferguson, who had two and Steven Szekesy and Charlie Izaguirre, who each chipped in three. xChatham was unable to stop Lambton Shores from sending pucks towards the net, and the Predators eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Maroons' Brendan Johnston stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. xChatham totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 3-for-6 on the power play. The Maroons ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and John Bowen was ejected from the game. Lambton Shores ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. For the Predators, Bryan Boersma was ejected from the game.
