Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Elmira Sugar Kings defeated the Kitchener Dutchmen in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Kitchener got a shootout goal from Adam Kawelic(APM). Elmira also got a shootout goal from Brad Kobryn.The Sugar Kings came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Elmira fell behind 3-0 after a goal by the Dutchmen's Dylan Bursey at 10:43 in the third period. The Sugar Kings knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Cash Seraphim at 18:15 in the third period. Elmira stifled Kitchener's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Dutchmen were unable to stop the Sugar Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Elmira eventually piled up 53 shots on goal. Others who scored for Elmira included Craig Johnson and Steven Jakiela, who scored one goal each. In addition, Elmira received assists from David Savery, who had one and Kobryn and Adam Campagnolo, who each chipped in two. Kitchener's offense rang up 42 shots on the Sugar Kings' net. The Dutchmen's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Kitchener is averaging 1.8 goal against for the season. The Dutchmen were helped by Jacob Cascagnette, who registered one goal. Cascagnette scored 1:28 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Kitchener. Gilbert Jared picked up the assist. Philip Moser also scored for Kitchener. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Mitchell Smith, Jordan Delaurier, and Chris Eckert, who contributed one a piece. Hayden Neuman rejected 39 shots on goal for Elmira. The Sugar Kings totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. For Elmira, Alex Mutton was ejected from the game. Marcus Del Conte recorded 49 saves for Kitchener. The Dutchmen totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Kitchener ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Scott Pedersen was ejected from the game.
