Cruickshank's hat trick boosts Brampton over Guelph, 5-1

A hat trick by Cameron Cruickshank was the highlight in Bombers' 5-1 win against the Guelph Hurricanes.

Cruickshank's first goal came 1:31 into the second period. He then added goals at 6:15 into the second and at 12:20 into the second.

The Brampton Bombers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Guelph power plays. Brampton forced Guelph goalie Stormer Santana to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Bombers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Brampton averages 2.9 goals per contest.

Others who scored for Brampton included Brad Sheppard and Greg Wilson, who each put in one. More assists for Brampton came via Owen Burry, who had two, Reid Jackman, who had three, and Nick APJ McNutt, Carmine Vietri, Phil Caputo, Ian Nichols, and Brandon Clelland, who each chipped in one.

The Hurricanes did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Guelph averages 3.3 goals per game.

Guelph also got a goal from Matt Lippa as well. Other players who recorded assists for Guelph were Michael Courvoisier and Craig Martini, who contributed one a piece.

The Bombers' Scott Patton stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Brampton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Stormer Santana made 32 saves for the Hurricanes on 37 shots. Guelph incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For the Hurricanes, Scott Villeneuve and Zach McFadden were ejected from the contest.
