Lambton Shores' comeback falls short, xLaSalle wins 4-3The Shores Recreation Centre Sat, Jan 18, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The xLaSalle Vipers came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Lambton Shores Predators, but did just enough to escape with a 4-3 victory. xLaSalle led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Vipers' Andrew Burns's scored at 6:49 in the second period to put xLaSalle up 3-0. Dylan Denomme had two goals to lead the Vipers to victory. Denomme scored at 5:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 xLaSalle and again while on the power play 6:38 into the second to make the score 2-0 xLaSalle. xLaSalle forced Lambton Shores goalie Bret Gilmour to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. xLaSalle also got points from Devon Paliani, who also had one goal and one assist and Burns, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for xLaSalle came via Mark Manchurek, who had two and Nathan Savage, Daniel Beaudoin, and Aaron Luchuk, who each chipped in one. The Predators were helped by Colin Burns, who tallied one goal and one assist. Burns scored on the power play 17:07 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Lambton Shores had taken the advantage when the Vipers' Nikko Sablone got sent off for slashing. Ty Jackson assisted on the tally. Lambton Shores additionally got points from Jackson, who also registered one goal and one assist and Kyler Keating, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Lambton Shores received assists from Ryan Gruszka, Matthew Kenney, and Brendan Trottier, who contributed one a piece. xLaSalle's Paolo Battisti stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Vipers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Gilmour recorded 36 saves for the Predators. Lambton Shores incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Predators, Ryan Fraser and Steven Beenackers were ejected from the contest.
