Listowel rips Brantford, 5-2

The Brantford 99ers had trouble finding ways to stop the Listowel Cyclones, which beat 99ers, 5-2.

Listowel was paced by Ted Nichol, who tallied one goal. Nichol scored 14:11 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Listowel. Reid Simmons assisted on the tally.

Brantford was unable to stop the Cyclones from sending pucks towards the net, and Listowel eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Cyclones surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Listowel has scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Listowel additionally got points from Austin Kovrig, who also registered one goal and one assist. Listowel also had goals scored by Kenny Huether, Chace Duckworth, and Ben Shelley, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Listowel were Connor Shaw, Ray McFalls, Blake Nichol, Tanner Mighton, Derek Elliot, Kevin Gergley, and Brad Yowart, who each chipped in one.

The 99ers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cyclones to score on any of their five power plays.

Brantford was led by Paris Briscoe, who had one goal. Briscoe scored on the power play 12:45 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Listowel. A slashing penalty on Nichol had put the 99ers on the power play. David Storey provided the assist. Anthony Van Looyen also scored for Brantford. More assists for Brantford came via John Nay, Cole Cummings, and Leonard Dziemianko, who contributed one a piece.

Listowel's Tanner Topham stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Cyclones incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Andre Keire made 36 saves for Brantford on 41 shots. The 99ers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
