xChatham rolls over St. Thomas, 4-1

The St. Thomas Stars had trouble finding ways to stop the xChatham Maroons, which beat Stars, 4-1.

xChatham's Jacob Keogh was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. Keogh certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.42 entering the contest.

The Maroons were sparked by Tanner Ferguson, who registered one goal. Ferguson scored 13:35 into the first period to make the score 2-1 xChatham. Trevor Richardson picked up the assist.

xChatham excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Maroons kept St. Thomas' goalie busy throughout the game, and Nick Dampier made 32 saves on 36 shots.

xChatham additionally got points from Richardson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for xChatham included Jared Dennis and Adam Arseneault, who scored one goal each. More assists for xChatham came via Brayden Hopkins, who had two and Nate Pietens, Kyle Brothers, Steven Szekesy, Charlie Izaguirre, and Michael Verboom, who contributed one a piece.

The Stars put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow xChatham to score on any of its three power plays. St. Thomas' offense operated below it season average. The Stars put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game.

St. Thomas was led by Chris Carreiro, who scored the team's only goal. Carreiro scored 1:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Thomas. Josh Coyle(APM) assisted on the tally.

The Maroons incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Stars incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
